नई दिल्ली, 25 अप्रैल | इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) के 11वें संस्करण में दिल्ली डेयरडेविल्स में कप्तान के तौर पर लौटे गौतम गंभीर ने बुधवार को टीम की कप्तानी छोड़ दी है। उनकी जगह युवा बल्लेबाज श्रेयस अय्यर टीम के कप्तान होंगे।

गौतम दो बार कोलकाता नाइट राइडर्स को आईपीएल का खिताब दिला कर लौटे थे, लेकिन वह कोलकाता की सफलता को दिल्ली में जारी नहीं रख सके। दिल्ली की एक के बाद एक हार का झटका उनके लिए काफी भारी पड़ा और उन्होंने कप्तानी छोड़ने का फैसला किया।

गंभीर ने यहां एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में कहा, "मैं कप्तानी का दबाव नहीं झेल पा रहा था, इसलिए कप्तानी छोड़ने का फैसला किया। यह मेरा अपना फैसला है। फ्रेंचाइजी का कोई दबाव मुझ पर नहीं है। मैंने अपने इस फैसले के बार में अपनी पत्नी से भी बात की थी।" दिल्ली ने गंभीर की कप्तानी में छह मैच खेले जिसमें से पांच में उसे हार मिली।
