पूर्व श्रीलंकाई कप्तान दिमुथ करूणारत्ने ने लिया अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से संन्यास
Cricket World Cup: श्रीलंकाई बल्लेबाज़ दिमुथ करूणारत्ने ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से संन्यास लेने का फ़ैसला किया है। गाले में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के ख़िलाफ़ इसी सप्ताह शुरू हो रहा दूसरा टेस्ट उनके करियर का 100वां और आख़िरी टेस्ट होगा।
इस मैच के बाद श्रीलंका को अगले एक साल में मई 2026 तक सिर्फ़ दो टेस्ट मैच खेलने हैं और करूणारत्ने सिर्फ़ टेस्ट फ़ॉर्मेट ही खेलते हैं। 2024 से उनका फ़ॉर्म भी कुछ ख़ास नहीं रहा है और उन्होंने पिछले 14 महीनों में सिर्फ़ 27.05 की औसत से रन बनाए हैं। ऑस्ट्रेलिया के ख़िलाफ़ गाले का दूसरा टेस्ट इस विश्व टेस्ट चैंपियनशिप (डब्ल्यूटीसी) चक्र में श्रीलंका का आख़िरी टेस्ट भी है।
करूणारत्ने ने 2012 में न्यूज़ीलैंड के ख़िलाफ़ गाले में ही टेस्ट डेब्यू किया था। उन्होंने अब तक खेले 99 टेस्ट में 16 शतकों और 39 अर्धशतकों की मदद से 39.40 की औसत से 7172 रन बनाए हैं, जो कि कुमार संगकारा, माहेला जयवर्धने और एंजेलो मैथ्यूज़ के बाद श्रीलंका की तरफ़ से चौथा सर्वाधिक है।
