पहली पारी में खराब बल्लेबाजी बनी हार का कारण : शान्तो
Najmul Hossain Shanto: कप्तान नजमुल हसन शान्तो ने भारत के ख़िलाफ़ चेन्नई टेस्ट में मिली बांग्लादेश की हार का चरणों के हिसाब से आकलन करने के बाद कहा कि अगर दूसरे दिन उनकी टीम ने 40 के स्कोर पर पांच विकेट नहीं गंवाए होते तो उनकी टीम अधिक बेहतर स्थिति में होती। बांग्लादेश दूसरी पारी में 234 रनों पर ऑलआउट हो गई जबकि पहली पारी में पूरी टीम स्कोरबोर्ड पर सिर्फ़ 149 रन ही जोड़ पाई थी।
शान्तो ने मैच के बाद कहा, "हमने पहली पारी में अच्छी बल्लेबाज़ी नहीं की। वो मैच का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण चरण था। अगर शीर्ष क्रम में एक अच्छी साझेदारी हो जाती तो हम बेहतर स्थिति में होते। शीर्ष क्रम के सामने हमेशा और विशेषकर पहली पारी में बेहतर करने की चुनौती रहेगी ही। महत्वपूर्ण है कि हम इस चुनौती का कैसे सामना कर रहे हैं। हम इस संबंध में काम तो कर रहे हैं लेकिन हमें इच्छानुसार परिणाम नहीं मिल रहे हैं।"
दूसरी पारी में बांग्लादेश की सलामी जोड़ी ने पहले विकेट के लिए 62 रन ज़रूर जोड़े लेकिन तब बांग्लादेश के सामने 515 रनों का विशालकाय लक्ष्य था।
