World Test Championship: वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ पहले टेस्ट से पहले, पाकिस्तान के टेस्ट कप्तान शान मसूद ने कहा कि टीम अपने विश्व टेस्ट चैंपियनशिप (डब्ल्यूटीसी) चक्र को जीत के साथ समाप्त करना चाहेगी। पाकिस्तान 17 जनवरी से मुल्तान क्रिकेट स्टेडियम में शुरू होने वाली दो मैचों की टेस्ट सीरीज़ में वेस्टइंडीज का सामना करेगा। दूसरा टेस्ट भी 25 जनवरी से उसी स्थान पर खेला जाएगा।
वेस्टइंडीज, जो दिसंबर 2006 के बाद पहली बार पाकिस्तान में टेस्ट मैच खेलेगा, वर्तमान में डब्ल्यूटीसी तालिका में सबसे नीचे है। पाकिस्तान की धरती पर दोनों पक्षों के बीच पिछली टेस्ट सीरीज़ में, पीसीबी हॉल ऑफ़ फ़ेमर इंज़माम-उल-हक ने तीन मैचों की टेस्ट सीरीज़ में घरेलू टीम को 2-0 से जीत दिलाई।
मसूद ने गुरुवार को प्री-मैच प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में कहा, “यह मौजूदा आईसीसी विश्व टेस्ट चैंपियनशिप चक्र में हमारी आखिरी टेस्ट सीरीज़ है, और हम इसे जीत के साथ समाप्त करना चाहेंगे। इस प्रारूप में हर मैच का बहुत महत्व है और हम इस अभियान को यादगार श्रृंखला जीत के साथ समाप्त करने के लिए अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ देने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध हैं।"
