Batting first after winning the toss, USA posted a competitive 199/4 in 20 overs, riding on half-centuries from captain Monank Patel and Sanjay Krishnamurthi. The openers, Monank and Shayan Jahangir, provided a flying start with a 68-run partnership as USA reached 65 without loss at the end of the powerplay.
